WEBSITE FORMS & CONFIDENTIALITY
Please do not use website contact forms or standard email to send highly sensitive, confidential, or urgent clinical information.
While reasonable measures may be used to protect information submitted electronically, the privacy and security of electronic communication cannot be guaranteed.
Submitting an inquiry, sending an email, or completing a website form does not establish a therapist-client relationship.
If you become a client of Alison Hunter Therapy, information related to your clinical care will be handled separately in accordance with applicable privacy laws, professional requirements, informed consent documents, and practice policies.

Clients receiving healthcare services from Alison Hunter Therapy may receive a separate Notice of Privacy Practices explaining how protected health information may be used and disclosed and describing clients' rights regarding their health information.

ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION
Email, website forms, text messages, and other forms of electronic communication may not be appropriate for sharing sensitive clinical information.
Electronic communication should generally be used for scheduling, administrative matters, and general inquiries unless your therapist has provided other instructions or a secure method of communication.
Electronic communication should not be used for emergencies, crises, or urgent clinical needs.
GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE & NO SURPRISES ACT
Under the federal No Surprises Act, individuals who do not have health insurance or who choose not to use their health insurance to pay for care generally have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much their healthcare services are expected to cost.
If you are uninsured or self-pay, you may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling a service. When services are scheduled at least three business days in advance, federal requirements generally provide for a Good Faith Estimate to be given before care.
The estimate will reflect the information reasonably known at the time it is created. Because psychotherapy is individualized, the frequency, duration, or nature of treatment may change depending on your needs and circumstances.
A Good Faith Estimate is not a contract and does not require you to receive services from Alison Hunter Therapy.
If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above the expected charges listed in your Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to use the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.
To request a Good Faith Estimate or ask questions about expected costs, contact:
alisonhuntertherapy@gmail.com

Insurance coverage varies based on the individual's plan, eligibility, service, provider, location, and other factors.

TELEHEALTH SERVICES
Alison Hunter Therapy offers online psychotherapy to eligible clients located in California.
For psychotherapy services, clients must be physically located in a jurisdiction where their treating clinician is legally authorized to provide services at the time of the appointment.
Telehealth may involve benefits as well as limitations and risks related to technology, connectivity, privacy, interruptions, and the absence of in-person interaction.
Clients receiving telehealth services will be provided with applicable informed consent information regarding telehealth before or as part of beginning services.
IN-PERSON & EXPERIENTIAL SERVICES
In-person, nature-based, equine-assisted, and other experiential services may be available in select California communities.
Availability depends on the therapist, service, location, clinical appropriateness, scheduling, and other circumstances.
Certain experiential services may involve considerations or risks different from traditional office-based or telehealth psychotherapy. When applicable, clients will receive additional information, informed consent materials, policies, or waivers related to those services before participating.
Information on this website describing experiential services is general and does not establish that a particular service is clinically appropriate for any individual.
ASSOCIATE THERAPISTS & CLINICAL SUPERVISION
Alison Hunter Therapy may provide services through both independently licensed clinicians and registered associate therapists.
Associate Marriage and Family Therapists provide psychotherapy under the clinical supervision of a qualified licensed mental health professional as required by California law and applicable professional regulations.
Clients working with an associate therapist will be provided with applicable information regarding the associate's registration and clinical supervisor.
Information regarding individual clinicians, credentials, specialties, and supervision is available on the practice website and may be updated as the team changes.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE
Psychotherapy services are provided in accordance with applicable California professional licensing requirements.
Licensure or registration information for California Marriage and Family Therapists and Associate Marriage and Family Therapists may be verified through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Information regarding a therapist's professional credentials does not constitute a guarantee that the therapist or a particular form of treatment will be appropriate for every prospective client.
